China – Severe Weather (ECHO Daily Flash of 22 April 2015)

  • Severe weather, in the past few days, mostly over 18-20 April, affected a number of provinces in south-central, south-eastern, and also south-western provinces of China, causing floods, leaving houses and crops damaged or destroyed. Most devastation happened in the provinces of Shaanxi, Gansu, Hunan, Guangdong, Guizhou, Yunnan, the Guangxi Autonomous Region, Chongqing municipality.

  • As of 21 April, authorities report more than roughly 475 000 people are affected in all districts and around 4 000 houses are destroyed. All provinces also experienced agricultural damage to crops with an economic loss of several million yuan of direct economic losses.
