New Wave of Chadian Migrants Crossed into Chad

Despite the official closure of Chad - Nigeria border, the number of Chadian Migrants from Nigeria crossing into the Lake Chad region is increasing during the recent weeks. The returnees are using alternative routes to cross into Chad through the Lake. The seven days long journey of the returnees who have entered the Chadian territory has started from the Nigeria border town of Maday after crossing several islands and sand banks. the current high water level in the Lake Chad and the presence of wild animals in the area make their journey extremely dangerous. The returning migrants are fleeing the insecurity arising from the violent clashes between Boko Haram elements and the Nigeria Army in the regions bordering Chad.
