OVER 100,000 REFUGEES FROM CAR SINCE MARCH 2013
On 9 June, UNHCR reported that some 100,774 refugees have arrived in Cameroon since March 2013, 35,751 of whom reside in host families or at border entry points. 59,347 refugees have already been transferred to sites.

CAMEROON
FIFTH CROSS-BORDER CLASH THIS YEAR
On 10 June, 300 suspected Boko Haram members committed the fifth cross-border attack from Nigeria into Cameroon this year, attacking the town of Gorsi Tourou in North Cameroon.

CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC (CAR)
25 KILLED IN CLASHES THIS WEEK; 74 CHILDREN KILLED AND 277 CHILDREN MAIMED THIS YEAR; POPULATIONS FLEEING REFUSED AT CHADIAN BORDER
On 9-10 June, at least 22 people were killed in clashes with ex-Seleka during the group’s attempt to establish their headquarters in the southern town of Bambari. On 14 June, an additional three people were killed in the volatile Bangui neighbourhood of PK5 during clashes with self-defense militia. UNICEF reports that this year alone, 277 children have been maimed and 74 killed by the conflict. On 16 June, UNHCR announced that it will be investigating reports indicating that persons fleeing CAR to seek refuge in Chad are being refused entry at the Sido border, in contravention of non-refoulement principles.

GUINEA/SIERRA LEONE/LIBERIA
EBOLA KILLS 179 IN MANO RIVER REGION SINCE FEBRUARY; SIERRA LEONE CLOSES BORDER WITH GUINEA AND LIBERIA
The cumulative caseload of Ebola, which began in Guinea in February this year, totals 179 deaths and 318 confirmed cases in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. On 11 June, Sierra Leone closed its borders with Guinea and Liberia, and also closed schools, cinemas and nightclubs along border regions in a bid to halt the spread of the Ebola virus.

NIGERIA
20 MORE WOMEN KIDNAPPED IN CHIBOK BY BOKO HARAM
On 9 June, Boko Haram reportedly kidnapped at least 20 women from outside Chibok, the same village from where the group abducted over 200 schoolgirls in mid-April.
