Central African Republic: First Quarter 2016 (January-March)

Attachments

During this quarter, if the security context remained relatively stable, no significant improvement of the humanitarian situation is reported. USD 9.6 million have been allocation for the first standard allocation, a relatively higher amount to the first allocation organised in 2015. In line with the Humanitarian Response Plan ‘strategy, the strategic objective of this allocation was to respond to critical and urgent humanitarian needs to improve access of affected populations to basic services and contribute to reducing violence in and among communities. This bulletin provides a breakdown of this allocation by partner, cluster and geographical area.

Strengthening the quality of submitted proposals was also a key objective of this allocation. Efforts carried out to integrate gender have led to 100 percent of funded proposals scoring the maximum gender marker code (2). Mainstreaming protection in proposals was also strengthened through the organisation of a dedicated workshop which welcomed representatives of 22 partners out of 29 invited. Projects including in their project design a knowledge transfer component for national NGOs were also prioritized for this allocation and a total of 12 partnerships with local actors were set-up. Ireland and Sweden have renewed their support to the fund for 2016 with contributions totalling USD5.2 million and several pledges have also been made during this quarter. The Fund also participated in multilateral donors’meetings to discuss options to better coordination humanitarian and development aid.
