PHNOM PENH [ACTED News]

In Kandal province, ACTED teams have assisted in the chlorination of almost 300 contaminated wells, providing isolated rural communities, affected by monsoonal flooding in late-2011, with access to a reliable source of safe drinking water.

ACTED has recently commenced work on a short-term project that aims to increase access to safe drinking water and improve hygiene behaviours within villages. Over the coming weeks, ACTED will distribute water purification tablets to households and ceramic water filters to schools to further increase safe water access. This will be complemented by outreach education sessions on correct hygiene practices, ensuring communities are able to properly manage their clean water stocks and guard against waterborne diseases. This project is supported by UNICEF.
