Provision of assistance to the flood victims of Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina

Responding immediately to the urgent need for the provision of humanitarian assistance to the victims of the unprecedented flooding in Southeast Europe, the Greek Foreign Ministry arranged for the immediate provision of economic and humanitarian assistance to the friendly peoples of Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The Greek Embassies in Belgrade and Sarajevo are in ongoing contact with the competent authorities to identify needs and coordinate the targeted provision of humanitarian assistance to the stricken populations.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos expressed to his counterparts the deep condolences and support of the Greek people, assuring them that the Foreign Ministry will remain at the disposal of the governments of Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina to provide any and all assistance, and also underscoring that the Greek people, through their unprompted gathering of monetary and humanitarian assistance, are showing in practice that they are once again standing by their distressed neighbours.
