Programme(s) summary:
The Federation continues to support the Red Cross Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina in its efforts related to organizational development aligned with the Strategy 2020 enabling action one: to build strong National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Despite the financial and human resource challenges, the Red Cross Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina accomplished significant achievements in the fields of Disaster management, Health and Care, with the support of the Federation.
In 2011, the National Society continued to implement its core programmes with the support from donors from both within and outside the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Through the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria GFATM, the National Society continued to receive support in specific areas such as “Strengthening of DOTS strategy and improving national Tuberculosis program, including multidrug resistant TB and infection control in BiH”. At the beginning of the year in addition to the regular activities the International Federation continued to support Red Cross Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina to respond to localised but extensive floods, which affected large number of people, by releasing DREF allocation 5,800 most vulnerable people were assisted (for more details refer to separate emergency reports posted at http://www.ifrc.org/docs/appeals/10/MDRBA0062dfr.pdf).
