Government's humanitarian assistance to flood victims through NEMO continued this past weekend in the Orange Walk District.

Household items and construction material were distributed to people living in the villages on the Albion Island that includes San Roman, San Antonio and Santa Cruz Villages, in addition to Douglas Village.

NEMO commends the efforts of the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Douglas Village for the excellent community support that was displayed. Villagers worked hand in hand with organizers and provided vehicles and manpower in collecting and dropping off their respective supplies.

Items that were delivered include refrigerators, stoves, mattresses, Celotex, plywood and a package of cleaning materials. Houses that were damaged by flood waters were repaired by residents from the various villages free of cost.

More items are expected to be delivered later this week to families that were affected by the recent floods in the Orange Walk District. This humanitarian assistance has also benefited flood victims in the Cayo and Belize Districts.
