Chakma ethnic tribe protests against recent deadly attack

The Rakhine and Chakma ethnic community in Maungtaw staged a protest outside the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Maungtaw yesterday against a deadly attack in early June on the Chakma ethnic tribe living in Chittagaung hilly areas in Bangladesh.

With permission from authorities, about 300 people took to the streets and gathered outside the office of UNHCR, chanting slogans and holding placards.

The Chakma ethnic tribe held a religious ceremony at Laungchaung Village in Buthidaung Township on 10th June to pray for those who were killed in the violent attack.
