Bangladesh Flood Situation Report, 14 July 2013
Flood in northern part of Bangladesh triggered by downpour and onrush of water from the upstream.
For the last few days’ torrential rainfall and consequential onrush of water from the upstream causes flood in several northern districts of Bangladesh. According to DDM and various news media it is reported that several areas of the districts namely Thakurgaon, Gaibandha, Dinajpur Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Lalmoirhat, Kurigram, Jamalpur and Sirajgonj have been flooded.
All upazilas and wards in municipal area including 133 villages of 40 unions in Thakurgaon have been flooded due to overflowing of the rivers called Tangon, Kulic, Nagor which affects 35,000 household and killed 5 persons. 764 households of affected area have taken shelter in 12 flood shelters. Government of Bangladesh (GoB) has sanctioned 200.00 metric tons (MT) GR rice and 10,00,000 Tk. as GR cash of which 92.0 MT GR rice and 2,45,000 Tk. GR cash already distributed among affected people.
