SHARJAH, 23rd April, 2017 (WAM) -- Sharjah Charity International donated AED4 million for the relief campaign targeting vulnerable people in Somalia, under the slogan "For You Somalia", which aims to eliminate suffering caused by the drought crisis affecting large areas of the country.
The campaign is an implementation of the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in co-operation with the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, and all UAE charity organisations and foundations.
GENEVA, 20th April, 2017 (WAM)-- The UAE-Jordanian Mrajeeb Al Fhood Camp for Syrian Refugees has won The Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) International Prize for Pioneering Human Development Projects for the year 2016 in the field Empowerment and social integration of Refugees and internally displaced people.
This was announced by Nasser Al Qahtani, Executive Director of AGFUND at a press conference held in Geneva on Thursday.
ABU DHABI, 15th April, 2017 (WAM)--Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) announced Saturday that it is sponsoring the treatment of 53 injured Yemenis affected by the Yemeni war at Indian hospitals.
The move follows the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and follow up by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the ERC.
MUKALLA, 15th April, 2017 (WAM) -- The Emirates Red Crescent today signed an agreement with a local contractor and the Directorate of Public Health and Population of Rudum District, Yemen's southern governorate of Shabwa, to fund restoration and maintenance of a healthcare centre in Arqa town, as part of the UAE's ongoing humanitarian support to Yemen.
The Emirates Red Crescent said the agreement is part of the agency's efforts to boost development, improve the humanitarian conditions and restore life to normal in the crisis-hit country.
Dar Al Ber Society, DABS, has launched an emergency relief campaign for the benefit of the Somali people hit by a massive famine and drought that reportedly killed many people and domestic animals.
Khalfan Khalifa Al Mazrouie, Chairman of DABS, said the relief drive is a translation of the UAE charitable and humanitarian policy, and is in line with the vision of the prudent leadership.
