A humanitarian aid convoy of 25 vehicles was sent on Monday by the Azerbaijan's Emergencies ministry to the earthquake-hit region of Iran, the ministry reported.

Humanitarian aid was sent on the instruction of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The convoy is carrying 3000 blankets, one thousand bedding sets, 460 tents, flour, rice, tea, sugar, oil, pasta, fruit juices, water and other necessary food items.

Zagatala, which in early May was hit by a strong earthquake, will have new homes built and delapidated homes restored, Azerbaijani Emergencies Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov told reporters on Friday.

Two more earthquakes hit Zagatala region of Azerbaijan in the morning on Saturday.

Tremors were registered at 07:01 local time, 14 km from the district center, National Seismological Service told Trend. The second tremor occurred at 08:18 at the same place. There are no victims.

The earthquake hits Zagatala also on Friday. Tremors measuring 6 were registered at 19:45 local time 15 km south of the district center.

An earthquake took place today severely damaging houses in Zagatala, the Azerbaijani Minister of Emergency Situations Kamaladdin Heydarov told media today.

"Today's earthquake caused more damage to the houses who had already been hit by previous tremors," the Minister said. He added that the full scale of destruction is still being determined. Heydarov said that about 20 million manat has been allocated to render first aid to people left without a home.

Activity has been observed in landslide areas in the Ismayilli region, Ismayilli Executive Power head Rafael Ahmadov told Trend today.

He said there is danger of landslides in the village Ikindzhi Eniyol and some other villages.

A landslide area map is being created in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences Vice President Akif Alizade told media today.

He said there are many areas in the country prone to landslides, including the Baku-Absheron zone, Mingachevir, Lankaran-Talish zone and the Greater Caucasus zone.

In accordance with the instructions of President of Azerbaijan Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergency Situations aircraft grade IL-76 took off on Sunday in the Turkish city of Van at 22:45 Baku time to help eliminate the consequences of the devastating earthquake.

The flood in Iran’s "West Azerbaijan" province left three deaths, while Iran’s Relief & Rescue Organization noted damages of flood in Maku, Chaldoran, Paldasht Saturday night, Mehr News Agency reported quoting Head of Relief & Rescue Organization Mahmoud Mozaffar as saying.
