PCI trains Nicaraguan government and NGOs in disaster relief and recovery

November 6, 2012 (Managua, Nicaragua) -- PCI Nicaragua was selected to conduct a series of disaster management workshops for Nicaraguan government institutions, as well as a variety of other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working in disaster response and humanitarian aid. PCI’s workshops focused on populations living in high risk environments to help them develop rescue and emergency plans, and start the rehabilitation and reconstruction process after a detailed assessment and analysis.

Update on Haiti Relief Efforts: Project Concern International Building Resource Pipeline to Bring Aid to Survivors

SAN DIEGO - January 20, 2010 - Project Concern International (PCI) is on the ground in Haiti working with local and international partners to meet survivors' most urgent needs. The San Diego-based health and humanitarian organization is focusing its efforts on the distribution of more than $5 million of vital emergency supplies, medicines, and medical equipment to hospitals, clinics, and other health providers.

India flooding crisis continues: PCI providing disaster response

India continues to reel from one of the worst monsoon seasons in three decades. With over 500 deaths and more than 23 million Indians currently affected, the anticipated run-off from nearby Nepal threatens to leave even more children and families in grave danger, subject to waterborne illness, life-threatening diseases, and malnutrition.

Responding to hurricane felix in Nicaragua

Hurricane Felix barreled ashore in Nicaragua on September 4th as a Category 5 storm with 160 mph winds. In its wake, the storm left more than a hundred dead (and that number is rising) and tens of thousands without necessary food, water, sanitation facilities and shelter.

Providing emergency response to earthquake victims in Peru

PCI is providing immediate relief services to communities hardest hit by an earthquake that struck the Peruvian Pacific Coast on August 15. Although receiving little media attention, the situation remains critical with more than 200,000 people still requiring life-saving assistance and nearly 60,000 homeless.

Indonesia: Project Concern teaches health is more than 'fun and games'

LHOONG, ACEH BESAR-7 June 2006-For years the popular board game Chutes & Ladders (or Ular & Tangga as it is called in Indonesian) has been teaching children the difference between good deeds and bad. These days, in Aceh, it's teaching adults something even more important-how to make sure children grow up healthy and strong.
