More than 170 orphans have been affected by flooding in Bor town, Jonglei State. The children of the Orphans children Trauma and Healing Center are forced to live and study with water in their classrooms and living quarters.

The South Sudan Presbyterian Evangelical Church Orphan Children Trauma and Healing Center was established in February this year to take care of children whose parents were killed during inter-tribal conflict clashes between rival community of Lou Nuer and Murle.

Relatives of airlifted returnees currently in the way stations in Juba have been urged to identify them.

Matthew Enoka, an official of South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission in Central Equatoria State (CES) says some returnees destined to Juba have failed to trace their relatives due to communication problems.

"Relatives of the returnees identify and collect your relatives especially those ending in Juba. "Some of the people say they are ending in Juba, but they do not known where their relatives," said Enoka.

The Jonglei State government has launched two big farming projects in Waat and Warkok to boost agricultural production, state minister of Information and Communication, Hussein Maar Nyuot has said.

Maar, who is also the Deputy State Governor, says the projects are being started because the disarmament exercise in Jonglei appears to be bearing fruit.

"Since we are having successful disarmament which is relative peace now in the state, we want to embrace agriculture".

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is working on a program to boost agricultural production, in line with a directive from President Salva Kiir.

On Wednesday, President Salva Kiir ordered for more cultivation to alleviate hunger and reduce dependency on food imports.

The Director General for agricultural production in the ministry of agriculture, John Chuol Dhol is looking at demarcating 20,000 hectres in each state for large scale crop production.

The Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) says the South Sudan-Sudan borders must be demarcated as a matter of urgency to stop conflict between the two countries.

Speaking on Radio Miraya's Inside South Sudan on Wednesday, the SPLA Spokesman Philip Aguer said SPLA would be forced to reposition iteself in the contested border areas if Khartoum fails to withdraw its troops.

"I find difficulties in calling them contested areas because these are parts of South Sudan. They are occupied territories by SAF (Sudan Armed Forces)," said Aguer.

One person has reportedly been killed and another wounded during an attack near a cattle camp in Jonglei State.

The attack by unknown gunmen took place near Pakou cattle camp in Twic East County.

The commissioner of Twic East county, Dau Akoi Jurkuch calls on the government to intervene and stop attacks, saying some youth, who boycotted the recent mass disarmament in the state, are hiding in swampy areas of Twic East.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has called on citizens to cultivate to alleviate hunger. The President was speaking during celebrations to mark the 29th anniversary of the Sudan Peoples Liberation Army (SPLA) on Wednesday.

"During this rainy season, everyone should look for land to cultivate so that we get rid of this hunger. We must try to produce our own food so that next year we should not beg for food from any person".

Over 2,000 returnees on Friday arrived in Bor from Renk County, Upper Nile State. The group is heading to Greater Bahr-el-Ghazal and later Juba.

South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission's Coordinator in Bor James Jok Alier told Radio Miraya that the returnees stopped in Bor to get food rations.

Jok was concerned that this batch of returnees came with a lot of difficulties.

"We are very concerned because the returnees of today are not like the previous returnees. They are people who came with pressure," said Jok.

A plane carrying 41 South Sudanese returnees has arrived in Aweil, Northern Bahr-el-Ghazal State.

The returnees were flown from Malakal to Aweil aboard a commercial flight sponsored by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Speaking to Radio Miraya at Aweil Airstrip, the State Director Relief and Rehabilitation Commission, Deng Kuel Kuel said 234 returnees are expected to arrive in Aweil in the next three days aboard six air flights.

The returnees upon arrival told Radio Miraya reporter in the area that they faced a lot of problems at Heglig/Panthou.

At least two people are reportedly killed and one wounded in a cattle raid in Twic East County, Jonglei State on Wednesday.

The raid that took place on Wednesday is the first raid that has been reported since the signing of a peace agreement between the six tribes last Saturday.

The commissioner for Twic East County, Dau Akoi Jurkuch told Radio Miraya that the incident occurred in Wangulei Payam.

A total of 60 children have been abducted Juba County since the year begun, the Member of Parliament representing Liria Payam, Juba County in Central Equatoria State (CES) has said.

Gerald Francis on Wednesday told the CES Legislative Assembly that four of the 60 children were abducted by armed men near a school on Monday.

"This particular incident was in Likiliri Payam. Residents saw a group of unknown men, well dressed and carrying guns attack a school and abduct one girl and three boys," he explained.

The World Food Program (WFP) plans to provide food aid to 900 schools in South Sudan this school year.

The assistance is part of a nutrition program targeting children, nursing and pregnant mothers.

WFP Country director Chris Nikoi said the food will be delivered to children in food insecure areas.

Farm Africa has supplied more than seven tones of seeds to farmers in Kapoeta North and South counties, Eastern Equatoria state (EES) this agricultural season.

Farm Africa is an International development organization operating in South Sudan in boosting agriculture.

In an exclusive interview with Radio Miraya, Jacob Mutemi, the country director for Farm Africa said the seeds include Sorghum, cow peas and groundnuts in addition to supply of tools and vegetables.

Mutemi says they will soon be providing cassava cuttings to about 300 farmers in Juba County.

The Minister of Commerce and Investment Garang Diing Akuong says the government intends to import food and non-food items to address the rising commodity prices.

Garang told Radio Miraya on Monday that the government has already started the bidding process of importing 600,000 bags of maize from Zambia.

"We are going to intervene as a government to supply the market with some goods, basic goods like medicines, food items, building materials and fuel".

Traditional chiefs in Jonglei state on Saturday signed a peace deal in the state capital Bor, in a ceremony witnessed by President Salva Kiir.

The deal climaxed the peace, reconciliation and tolerance conference that aimed at restoring peace in the troubled state, following a series of inter-communal clashes.

The Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) has warned of tough measures against recruiting children into the national army.

The warning comes afew weeks aftyer the SPLA issued directing all army units to screen and register all children in their ranks.

Addressing the press in Juba on Friday, without specifying the punitive measures, the SPLA spokesperson Col. Philip Aguer said recruitment of child soldiers is a crime.

One child has died and five others were injured by an mine in Bentiu – Unity State. The children, all boys aged between nine and fourteen years were playing with the abandoned explosive when it went off.

One of the children died on arrival at the hospital in Bentiu, one has been discharged and the other four are receiving treatment. The incident happened on Saturday.

The United Nations Children's Organization - UNICEF has handed over to the South Sudan government vehicles and equipment that will be used in the fight against the Guinea worm.

The items include eighteen laptops and printers, fifteen motorbikes, fifty two global positioning systems – or GPS's and two vehicles that will be distributed to Eastern Equatoria and Warrap States.

The Japanese International Corporation Agency (JICA) has launched an infrastructure improvement project in Malakal, the state capital of Upper Nile State.

The two-year project aims at improving water systems and river ports in Malakal town.

The JICA Program coordinator in Malakal, Ohara Katsuhiko told Radio Miraya that the project will also involve developing roads and making basic services more available to the people of the state.

"We are offering three projects: 1) is water supply, 2) roads development and 3) river-port improvement".

Wau County caretaker Commissioner, John Peter Miskin has urged local people to begin large scale farming to prevent hunger and reduce dependence on oil.

Miskin's advice comes in the wake of increasing tensions between Sudan and South Sudan over oil and the border.

Prices have risen in Wau, Western Bahr-el-Ghazal State (WBGS) due to a shortage of food items which usually come from Sudan.

In an exclusive interview, Miskin told Radio Miraya that the closure of the border with Sudan, will limit citizens' access to supplies.
