14 Iraqis killed in two separate attacks near capital

Baghdad, May 21 (KUNA) - Fourteen Iraqis were killed in two separate attacks, one targeting a mosque, while the other targeting a popular coffee shop of Banghdad on Tuesday. A police source told KUNA that an improvised car expected near a mosque in Abu Ghuraib area, killing 11 people and injuring 20 others. Gaza gov't confirms Egyptian assurances ending Rafah crossing closure

GAZA, May 19 (KUNA) -- The Palestinian government in Gaza, headed by Hamas leader Ismail Haniya, confirmed Sunday that it has received assurances from Egypt regarding efforts to find a solution on the closure of Rafah Crossing.

Haniya is following up closely developments around the clock regarding the Rafah Crossing with the Egyptian side, Taher Al-Nono, government's spokesman, said in a statement.

Kuwait donates USD 13 mln to Somalia

The State of Kuwait affirmed Tuesday unlimited support for Somalia to help the African country rebuild itself following two decades of conflict. "The State of Kuwait seeks in the upcoming period to reopen an embassy in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, following the stability of security situation," Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Sabah told KUNA on sidelines of an international conference to assist Somalia.

25 Saudis killed in heavy rain, floods

RIYADH, May 6 (KUNA) -- Twenty-five people were killed and three still missing due to recent heavy rains and floods in Saudi Arabia, Director General of Civil Defense Saad Al-Tuwaijri said in a statement on Monday.

Al-Tuwaijri said nine of those killed were in Riyadh Region, seven in Al-Taef province, six in Al-Baha, two in Asseer Region, and one in Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah Region, while three still missing, two in Al-Baha valleys and one in Hail Region.

KRCS continues its assistance to Syrian refugees in Jordan

AMMAN, April 30 (KUNA) -- A delegation from the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) handed out 10,000 food packages, each weighing 18 kilograms to aid Syrian refugees in Jordan, said a KRCS statement on Tuesday.

The KRCS team distributed today 500 parcels to displaced Syrian families in Jerash, said head of the KRCS delegation Ahmed Al-Fag'an in remarks to KUNA.

The KRCS team will continue to offer aid as part of its humanitarian commitment towards the Syrian people, due to their current security dilemma, he noted.

Saudi medical supplies arrive in Gaza

GAZA, April 29 (KUNA) -- The first medical aid supplies presented by Saudi Arabia arrived in Gaza Strip on Monday, destined for the enclave's needy medical centers and hospitals.

The aid patch which consists of 10 tons of medicine and medical equipment arrived At Egyptian Al-Areesh Airport and entered through the Rafah crossing.

The aid is part of a mission dispatched upon instructions of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to help aid Gaza hospitals, cost Saudi Riyal 10 million.

Kuwait assists 250 displaced Syrian students in Lebanon

25/04/2013 | 04:10 PM | Arab News BEIRUT, April 25 (KUNA) -- Lebanese Al Istijaba Charitable Society announced on Thursday that Kuwait's Islamic Heritage Revival Society has provided assistance to 250 displaced Syrian students in the city of Sidon.

President of the society Sheikh Nadim Hijazi told KUNA that this aid comes in the framework of the Syrian student assistance project, which is funded by the Kuwaiti society.

Hijazi added that the project includes the payment of school fees, stationery and clothing for Syrian students enrolled in private schools.

KRCS distributes 10,000 food parcels to Syrian refugees in Jordan

AMMAN, April 24 (KUNA) -- A delegation from Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society (KRCS) launched here on Wednesday a new relief campaign to aid Syrian refugees in Jordan, including distribution of 10,000 food parcels, each weighing 18 kilograms.

Head of the Kuwaiti Delegation Ahmad Abduallah Al-Fag'an, in remarks to KUNA, said the team distributed 850 parcels to Syrian families residing in Al-Shajarah and and Al-Turrah areas northern the Kingdom.

Each food parcel is sufficient to serve a Syrian family for a whole month, including main food supplies, he said.

Kuwait donates USD 68 mln for Syrians, Palestinians

State of Kuwait donated a total of USD 68 million to help alleviate suffering of Syrians in and outside their country, as well as the Palestinian refugees in the troubled Arab country.

Kuwait permanent ambassador to the UN Mansour Al-Otaibi said Kuwait, bearing its humanitarian responsibility towards its Arab brethern, donated USD 53 million to UNICEF to help the Syrian children inside the country and Syrian refugees in neighboring nations, while granting USD 15 million for UNRWA to help the Palestinian refugees inside Syria.

Algeria sends 40 tons of humanitarian aid to Syria

ALGIRES. March 25 (KUNA) -- The Algerian government announced on Monday that it sent 40 tons of humanitarian aid to Syria.

Algeria decided to send the humanitarian aid via Beirut Airport, Lebanon, through Algerian Red Crescent directly to Syrian Red Crescent, Ammar Balani, spokesman for Algerian ministry of foreign affairs, said in a statement. Balani affirmed the aid - food, medicine and blankets - would be shipped on board cargo aircraft, of Air Algerie, over three flights.

Man killed, several others injured at refugee camp in Lebanon

BERUIT, March 11 (KUNA) - One man was killed and several others wounded in clashes at Ain Al-Hilwa Palestinian refugee camp in Sidon in south Lebanon, according to security reports. The camp became tensed as A Palestinian faction official came under shooting from an unknown militant. The official and three others were injured, while a passer-by was killed, security reports from South Lebanon said. Qatar donates USD 100 mln to Syrian opposition

DOHA, Feb 20 (KUNA) -- Qatar announced on Wednesday that it has provided a USD 100 million financial contribution to the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces (SNCROF), the Humanitarian Assistance Coordination Unit.

The donation was made upon the directives of Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported, noting that it comes in the context of humanitarian aid provided by Qatar to Syrian people in their current ordeal.

A Russian medical aid batch has entered the Gaza

CAIRO, Jan 29 (KUNA) -- A Russian medical aid batch has entered the Gaza Strip via Egypt's Rafah crossing.
Middle East News Agency (MENA) quoted an official at the crossing as saying that the aid batch was donated by the Russian solidarity society in Moscow to the Palestinian people.
The official added that the batch of aid consists of five tons of medical supplies. (end)

Riyadh gives USD 100 mln in aid to Palestinians

GAZA. Jan 16 (KM/A) -- Saudi Arabia has decided to give the Palestinian government in the West Bank USD 100 million to help ease out its financial trouble.

This came in a phone call between Saudi Minister of Finance Ibrahim Al-Assaf and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday evening.

In the phone conversation. the Saudi minister informed the Palestinian leader about Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz's decision to transfer USD 100 million to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) reported.

Kuwait continues to aid Syrian refugees in N. Lebanon

MINIEH, Northern Lebanon, Jan 6 (KUNA) -- A team from Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) continued here Sunday to deliver relief aid for Syrian refugees in northern Lebanon.

Head of KRCS field team Mnawer Al-Azmi told KUNA that the aid would hopefully cover the needs of some 12,000 Syrian families that fled violence in their country.

The official affirmed that Kuwait would continue to provide assistance and care to their fellow Syrian brothers to ease some of their suffering.
