Human Appeal International UAE provides urgent relief aid to tens of Palestinian families

Jerusalem: UAE Appeal International UAE (HAI) has offered urgent relief assistance to the dozens of Palestinian families whose homes were washed away by the floods in the Palestinian territories amid heavy rains and strong winds sweeping the region.

Ibrahim Rashid, Director of HAI Office in West Bank, said with intense bad weather conditions being experienced by the Palestinian territories, the HAI follows up in coordination with the Palestinian officials the conditions of families affected by the floods, especially In the Jordan Valley East of the West Bank.

UAE President gives directives to rush emergency humanitarian assistance for Palestinian flood victims

Emergency humanitarian assistance for Palestinians whose houses and properties were destroyed by floods in the last few days was ordered by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and President of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA).

The initiative came upon directives by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and is followed-up on by His Highness Gen. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Etihad Airways distributes blankets and food among underprivileged children in India

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has organised a substantial blanket distribution drive to help underprivileged children survive the harsh winter season in New Delhi.

This initiative, which is the first conducted by the airline in India, was organised in association with Monyati Initiatives, an India-based non-profit social development organisation, along with Ammucare Charitable Trust.

Flying hospital seeks helping hand in UAE

A gleaming white DC-10 sits on the tarmac at Al Bateen Executive Airport in Abu Dhabi. What sets it apart from any other aircraft is the fact that it is equipped with an operating theatre, a recovery room and all manner of surgical equipment.

This is the Flying Eye Hospital which has treated more than 15 million patients worldwide for a range of eye-related diseases.

Currently on its first trip to the UAE since 1982, the hospital is looking to build long-standing relationships with medical professionals.

RCA distributes schoolbags in Palestine

The Red Crescent Authority (RCA) has commenced distribution of schoolbags and stationeries in seven northern provinces in Palestine in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Education, presidential supervision committee and al- Bayara Cultural Society. UAE Foreign Aid in 2009

This report of the UAE's foreign aid in 2009 has involved a wide variety of organizations, including government bodies, the Red Crescent Authority, humanitarian and charitable foundations and a number of non-governmental organizations. All give generously to countries in need.

UAE: First swine flu patient recovering in Al Ain hospital

The UAE's first case of swine flu has been confirmed by the Ministry of Health after a man travelling from Canada to Abu Dhabi tested positive.

Dr. Haneef Hassan, UAE Minister of Health, said on Sunday night: "The patient, who arrived to the country on a flight from Canada, is recovering now at a government hospital after he has received a course of treatment. He will remain under observation and treatment for 10 days as medically recommended. Passengers who were on the same flight have not developed any H1N1 symptoms."

RCA dispatches aid convoy to Pakistan's Swat Valley

Islamabad - In line with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority, a convoy carrying aid to displaced people headed to Wadi Swat, 200 kilometres from Islamabad.

The convoy consists of 12 trucks, loaded with foodstuff, sheltering materials, blankets and medicines.

A delegation from the RCA, headed by the Chairman of its Sharjah Branch Khamis Al Suwaidi, will oversee tomorrow distribution of the relief materials to the displaced people, currently concentrating in Mardan and Sawabi.

Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) has donated an amount of Dh1 million to the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) in contribution to the latter's special campaign dubbed: "Reach Out To Them" to help alleviate the sufferings of the people of Gaza.

Telethon raises Dh315m for Palestinians in Gaza

A nation-wide fund raising campaign has collected Dh315 million in funds and materials to help the Palestinian people in Gaza strip. The fund raising campaign, aired through all TV and radio stations in the UAE, was held under the slogan "Help them".

OPT: UAE relief convoy arrives Arish on way to Gaza

Al Arish - A UAE relief convoy arrived here yesterday en route to Rafah Border Crossing to deliver urgent humanitarian assistance to Palestinian people affected by current events in Gaza.

UAE Ambassador in Cairo Ahmed Al Za'abi said the 50 truck convoy carries 300 tonnes of various essential relief supplies purchased from the Egyptian market.

Al Za'abi along with a delegation from the Red Crescent Authority had handed the assistance to the UNRWA in the presence of its director in Cairo Rola Khalfawi.

OPT: Hamdan, Saif bin Zayed offer support to people of Gaza

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister '&' Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority, has instructed the UAE embassy in Cairo to provide 300 tons of foodstuff and material aid, plus 30,000 blankets, to the people of Gaza. The relief materials and blankets will be dispatched to Gaza via Rafah crossing, in collaboration with the UNRWA.
