Cash and kind donated to Meiktila conflict victims

Meiktila, 15 May— Daw Yi, Daw San San Win, Daw Po and Daw Htay Htay Yi of Mandalay donated relief aids worth K 2.5 million, and U Kyaw Soe of Mandalay, foods worth K 0.2 million and Shan State (South) Muslims Group, relief aids worth K 5 million for victims in Meiktila conflicts at Township’s transit centre on 12 May.

A total of K 199,575,000 in cash and relief aids worth K 644,309,740 have been received as donations for victims of the conflict.

President U Thein Sein calls for cent per cent operation of Nay Pyi Taw mechanized farm by monsoon

Nay Pyi Taw, 9 April

President U Thein Sein visited reclamation site of 900-acre mechanized farms to be irrigated through Setsetyo creek and construction site of diversion weir.

The President called for cent per cent operations of the farm, irrigation system and roads by coming monsoon.

The President and party then visited construction site of Setsetyo diversion weir. Union Minister U Myint Hlaing reported the President on work progress.

School for the disabled children gets new school building

Nay Pyi Taw, 27 Feb - Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Daw Myat Myat Ohn Khin and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Myint Swe attended the handing over of new school building to the School for the Disabled Children at Kyaikwaing Pagoda Road in Mayangon Township in Yangon on 22 February.

They unveiled the bronze plaque of the new school building and viewed round inside the building which was built and donated by Shwedaung Group.

Cash assistance, relief items donated to victims of hailstones

Kengtung, 18 Feb- Shan State Government donated cash assistance to those of damaged houses recently hit by hailstones at Buddhawin Monastery in Kattaung Village of Kengtung Township on 7 February.

Chief Minister of Shan State U Sao Aung Myat explained the purpose of assistance. Next, Chief Minister U Sao Aung Myat, Commander of Triangle Region Command Maj- Gen Than Tun Oo, State Ministers Col Aung Thu, Dr Myo Tun and U Peter Thaung Sein and officials presented cash assistance and relief items to the victims.

On behalf of the locals, U Sao Lon Mont spoke words of thanks.

Bags of rice, clothes donated to earthquake victims

Mandalay, 18 Feb-A ceremony to donate 200 bags of rice and clothes by media persons and artistes to victims from earthquakehit areas of Thabeikkyin Township in Mandalay Region on 6 February morning.

At first, the Township Administrator explained relief works and rehabilitation tasks for the victims in the township and replied to queries raised by journalists.

Next, the wellwishers presented 200 bags of rice to the Township Administrator and clothes to the Township Education Officer respectively.

Food supplies for local people in Putao airlifted

Nay Pyi Taw, 8 Feb- The Government provided local people in Putao region in Kachin State with rice, oil, and salt yesterday.

The 240 bags of rice, 30 barrels of oil, and twelve bags of salt worth K 2,540,000 were airlifted from Yangon to Putao yesterday afternoon. Arrangements have been made to continue airlifting medicine and medical equipment to Putao.

Nay Pyi Taw, 8 Feb- President U Thein Sein sent a message to the Speaker of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw today asking to assign Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Thein Htay to his previous military post and to replace his post with Lt- Gen Thet Naing Win and to assign General Myat Hein to the post of Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology.

During the meeting, Union Minister for Finance and Revenue U Win Shein reported on ODA Loan from Japan International Cooperation Agency-JICA.

Government to continue assisting IDPs

Nay Pyi Taw, 6 Feb- The Union Peace-making Work Committee and KIO held negotiation at Shweli on 4 February.

They agreed to hold further negotiation for reaching lasting truce and emergence of a monitoring system for conflict regions.

In the aftermath of armed conflicts in Kachin State, the government is arranging to reconstruct houses, reopen schools and hospitals and let enter humanitarian assistance for internally displaced persons.

One civilian dead, four wounded in exchange of fire between KIA and Tatmadaw military column

Nay Pyi Taw, 25 Jan - An exchange of fire between KIA group and a Tatmadaw military column broke out at a place between Whaykhar village and Khakyan village of Seikmu village-tract in Phakant Township of Kachin State from about 12.30 pm to 5.30 pm on 23 January.

Maung Hla Thaung, 23, of Whaykhaw village was killed and three men and one girl wounded in the incident.

According to the Kachin State government, five houses at Khakyan village were reduced to ashes due to artillery shells.

Kachin IDPs receives health care from Tatmadaw mobile team

Nay Pyi Taw, 15 Jan- Tatmadaw mobile medical team provided medical servies to Kachin internally displaced persons sheltering at the Catholic Church in Ward-3 and Kachin Baptist Convention in Ward-5 in Kutkai on 13 January.

The four hundred and ninety-nine Kachin people were forced to flee to Kutkai as refugees and of them, 113 who need health care received free medical checkups and health care treatment from the mobile team led by Maj Kyaw Kyaw under the arrangement of North-East Command.

Nay Pyi Taw, 8 Jan- Chairman of Union Election Commission U Tin Aye delivered an address at the meeting on taking nationwide census at the office of Union Election Commission, here, this morning.
