Croatian Humanitarian Assistance to Libya

A shipment of humanitarian aid for the people of Libya sailed out from Rijeka towards Benghazi, organised by the Government of the Republic of Croatia.

The humanitarian aid worth approximately $200.000 includes a donation of medical supplies provided by the Government of the Republic of Croatia, as well as a private donation of medicines. The entire operation was coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Croatia, which provided the funds to cover the related transport expenses.

Kick off Conference on the occasion of the commencement of the project of demining the Croatian-Hungarian border held

The realization of the biggest project financed by the European Union funds in the framework of the IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Hungary-Croatia, Demining HU-HR (HUHR/1001/111/0006) started today by the official signing of the European Union Grant Contract for the project of demining the Croatian-Hungarian border entitled «Rehabilitation of land mine contaminated sites in the Drava-Danube area» at the Kick off Conference in Osijek. The Co-operation Agreement Signed in the Premises of ‘‘Croatia without Mines" - Humanitarian Demining Trust Fund

Today, June 15, 2011, there was an official ceremony of signing the Co-operation Agreement held in the premises of the ''Croatia without Mines''- Humanitarian Demining Trust Fund in Zagreb, in Kralj Zvonimir Street. The Agreement was signed for the purpose of financing the implementation of mine risk education activities and informing farmers about mine danger.

Realization of Humanitarian Demining Plan of the Vukovar-Srijem County

On May 6, in the premises of the Vukovar-Srijem County in Vinkovci, the head of Plan and Analysis Department at the Croatian Mine Action Centre Mrs. Nataša Mateša Mateković informed the County demining co-ordinator Mr. Zlatko Pavloić about the realization of Humanitarian Demining Plan 2011 so far. In the first four months, there were 39% of areas planned for 2011 demined in Vukovar-Srijem County. The most important was the demining of the remainingmine suspected area of the Bogdanovci municipality. The biggest investor was the Government of the Republic of Croatia.

Prime Minister Kosor: EC has granted Croatia's request for aid for natural disasters

ZAGREB, Dec 23 (Hina) - Croatia has received a favourable response from the European Commission to its request for aid in removing the consequences of natural disasters and stands to receive 3.8 million euros for that purpose, Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor said at a Cabinet meeting on Thursday.

"The position of the European Commission is that we may receive over 3.8 million euros, but we're also awaiting the position of the European Parliament and the Council of the EU," Kosor said.

Germany Continues to Financially Support Mine Action in Croatia with 200.000 EUR for Demining in ?ista Mala

On 25 November 2010, at 13,00 hrs, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed at the German embassy in Zagreb between the Federal Republic of Germany and the International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victim Assistance (ITF). Croatia: Beginning of Demining Operations on the Area of Tordinci in Vukovar-Srijem County

Today, October 1, 2010, employees of the Croatian Mine Action Centre introduced the company MKA*Deming from =C8akovec to demining operations on the area of Tordinci village in Vukovar-Srijem County.

The ultimate deadline for the completion of operations on 345.058 square meters as per demining project ''Agricultural areas on the territory of Tordinci community'' in Vukovar-Srijem County is scheduled for the period of 40 days from the beginning of operations. The project is worth 3.093.635,71 HRK and it is financed by the State Budget funds.

Croatia: Joint application of Croatian and Hungarian partners for the EU funds

On September 1, 2010 in Pecs, Hungary, the 3rd meeting was held between Croatian and Hungarian partners that will apply for IPA CBC HU-HR programme. Croatian Mine Action Centre has together with Barany county police administration continued on development of project documentation. Joint project called "Rehabilitation of land mine contaminated sites in Drava-Danube area" will be submitted to public tender by September 15, 2010 for IPA CBC Programme Hungary-Croatia funds.

Croatia: Demining Operations in Šodolovci Municipality

On August 27, 2010, the employees of the Croatian Mine Action Centre will introduce the company Piper Ltd. from Požega to demining operations as per project ''Area near Velika Osatina canal in Šodolovci municipality'' with layout area of 108.516 m2 in Osijek-Baranja County. Project is financed through the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany donation and operations are worth 884.460 HRK. Deadline for the completion of operations is within 17 days. FR Germany has contributed to Croatian mine action system with donations totalling over 7.2 million EUR.

U.S. Government through ITF selects projects for Mine Victims Assistance in Croatia

On Friday, 27 August 2010, in Ig near Ljubljana, a meeting of the evaluation committee was held with the aim to select the best projects of mine victim assistance which will be implemented in Croatia. On the basis of tender that the International Trust Fund for Humanitarian Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) has announced, the U.S. Government will finance the projects of mine victims socio-economic rehabilitation in the total value of $ 80,000.

Croatia: Demining Works in progress

Demining operations are currently being conducted on 43 active worksites totalling 10,889,479 square meters in 8 counties out of which the majority is being realized in Lika-Senj County with12 projects, Osijek-Baranja County with 11 projects and Vukovar Srijem County with 6 projects.

In the last two days, the employees of the Croatian Mine Action Centre introduced seven accredited dmining companies (Mungos razminiranje d.o.o, Tornado d.o.o., MKA*Deming d.o.o., Rumital d.o.o., Istraživa? d.o.o., Demin-ka d.o.o. i Diz-eko d.o.o.) to mine search and demining operations based on 9 projects totalling 4.305.193 m².

Croatian Forests Invest into Demining of Osijek-Baranja County

On Friday, April 16, 2010, the employees of the Croatian Mine Action Centre introduced the company Centurion Ltd. from Sisak to operations as per demining project ''Forest sections 31 a and c and section 33a in G.J. Croatia: April - Month of Protection from Mines

The Republic of Croatia is one of the countries that cannot dispose of its territory freely due to the fact that 887 km² are still classified as mine suspected area (MSA). Croatia: Problematics of Mine Suspected Area (MSA) Marking and Co-operation with Counties

Based on the Law on Humanitarian Demining and other bylaws regulating humanitarian demining, the Croatian Mine Action Centre has executed marking of the entire mine suspected area (MSA) in the Republic of Croatia in that way ensuring the timely warnings and informing of population living near the MSA about the danger threatening from mines.

Croatia: Japanese Government Donated Funds for Demining of Glina

On Thursday, 25 February 2010, in the Town of Glina City Hall, there was an official ceremony of signing the Grant Contract held for the purpose of demining of ''Agricultural areas in Marinbrod'', Glina, Sisak-Moslavina County. Croatia: First Million Square Meters Cleared in January

In spit of extremely bad weather conditions and many suspensions of demining operations on most worksites in Croatia, still there were 1.250.000 square meters cleared in January 2010 in the costal zone.
