This was an event, which as it results from the most serious observers of floods all over the world, it happens very rarely, once in hundred times. So far, despite material and ecological damage, there is no loss of human lives, and this a merit of this operation.

Albania: PM Berisha receives Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi's special envoy about created situation from floods

Prime Minister Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha received the special envoy of Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi, Mr. Roberto Guercio, a special adviser of PM Berlusconi to Committee of Protection of Dykes in Italy. The created situation because of the floods in Albania was the topic of the talks.

Mr. Guercio conveyed to PM Berisha the cordial greetings of Italian PM Berlusconi and emphasized that it was PM Berlusconi who ordered his urgent return from the USA to Albania so that to confirm the total support of the Italian government to remedy this situation which can be managed, as he put it.

Albania: Prime Minister Berisha inspects flooded area of Ishull Shëngjin, in Lezha

Accompanied by Interior Minister Lulzim Basha, PM Berisha inspected today the flooded area from the Adriatic Sea high tide in Ishull Shëngjin, Lezha region. PM Berisha assessed that although difficult the situation is being managed efficiently.

Prime Minister Sali Berisha got acquainted from very close with the progress of works for building of the dyke which is expected to normalize the situation and will protect this endangered area from sea level rise. The Prime Minister evaluated highly the devotion and the great job done for building the dyke in the quickest possible way

Albania: PM Berisha visits flood-endangered areas in Shkodra

Following his visit to the flooded areas of Lezha region, PM Sali Berisha paid a visit to Shkodra town and its outskirts to see from very close the created situation because of the heavy rainfall in this region.

Accompanied by Interior Minister Lulzim Basha and Defense Minister Arben Imami, PM Berisha visited the dyke and hydropower station of Vau i Dejës, as well as the Machinery Control Systems.

Albania: Financial assistance of four million dollars is handed to President Topi for the Gërdeci event on behalf of Kuwaiti State Emir and Red Crescent.

The President of the Republic, Bamir Topi received today a senior delegation of the Kuwaiti State, headed by Ismail Al Shatti, Adviser to the Prime Minister of the Kuwaiti State and Burges Al Burges, the Chairman of the Kuwaiti Red Crescent, who handed to the Head of the Albanian state a financial contribution of four millions dollars for the consequences of the Gërdeci tragic event.

Albania: President Topi visited the homeless victims of the Gërdec explosion who are sheltered at the holiday home of the Ministry of Interior in Durrës

The President of the Republic, Bamir Topi accompanied by the deputy Prime Minister, Gazmend Oketa, the President of the Republican Party Assembly, Sabri Godo and by directing staff of the Institution of the President, paid a visit today to the Holiday Home of the Ministry of Interior where the victims of the tragic Gërdec explosion have been temporary sheltered.

Responding to the serious crisis which deteriorated to the collapse of state authority in a large part of Albania during the first half of this year, a group of countries carried out an operation through a Multinational Protection Force, authorised by the Security Council.
