Dengue fever causes second death of year in Karachi

KARACHI: A 32-year-old man died of dengue fever here in a local hospital on Thursday, FP news desk reports.

According to reports, Farhan, resident of Gulistan-e-Jauhar was under treatment from one week but could not survive.

This is the second death occurred in the current year due to the fever in the city. Before this a 20-yaer-old girl died due to the dengue fever.

Doctors told media that the mosquito causing the dengue fever becomes active in hot areas and Karachi’s weather condition favors the mosquito.

24 children die of diarrhea in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: As many as twenty-four children died of diarrhea and gastroenteritis in the month of May only in just Lady Reading and Khyber Teaching hospitals in Peshawar. This is the story of two hospitals in one city. One can guess what the figures would be if data from all over the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is collected.

PM orders cash grants, tents for quake-hit families

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Justice (Retd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso Wednesday approved a proposal for provision of cash grants to around 3000 quake-hit families of Mashkhel, Balochistan to reconstruct their properties on their own.
The Prime Minister chaired a high-level meeting held at PM House to review the progress on development projects, assessment of damages caused by recent earthquake and recruitment in federal government against the quota of Balochistan.

Karachi violence claims 4 more lives

KARACHI (FP Report):-Different areas in the metropolis remained in successive grip of violence on Monday when four more persons were ruthlessly gunned down while many others sustained injuries in different incidents of firing and violence.

Following the mishaps, the area people preferred it better to remain within the limitations of their homes in the area of Sohrab Goth, Incholi and Indus Plaza.

All the roads leading from Rashid Minhas Road to Indus Highway were closed for general traffic while angry people set three buses on fire on National Highway.

Five more killed in Karachi violence

Five more persons were killed and 10 including a woman were inured in fresh violence in Karachi on Tuesday. The deceased also included Managing Director of a factory and worker of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

According to media reports, unknown motorcyclists opened firing on a car. As a result, a a person was killed while other sustained injuries in Bhains Colony area of Shah Latif police station.

Police stated that the deceased was identified as Arshad Pervaiz, 65, MD in a factory, while Kashif Qizalbaash was injured. Both were residents of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

Measles break out in Bannu; NWA, no vaccines available

Measles have broken out in the whole of the southern districts due to non availability of anti measles vaccines in the whole region including Bannu, Miranshah, South Waziristan, Karak and Lakki Marwat. Inside sources in health department at Bannu told The Daily Frontier Post on the condition of anonymity that about 80 minors are brought to the women and children hospital on daily basis who are suffering from acute state of measles.

KANDHKOT: Measles claimed five more lives in interior Sindh including Kandhkot district, mounting the death toll to 58 in last 27days.

Four children died in Kandhkot while measles claimed another life in Daharki on Friday.

The health ministry is providing vaccines to the affected children. However, the outbreak has not been brought under control.

Emergency has also been declared in all public hospitals.

Kandhkot: Another child dies of measles; toll reaches 37

KANDHKOT: The child was identified as Kher Muhhamd Merani, a resident of Jaman Shah. A pronounced outbreak of measles has been reported in Kandhkot district of Tehsil Shikarpur, while the health ministry has not taken any effective step to prevent the outbreak.

Over hundred children have been admitted to different private hospitals with symptoms of measles while locals have blamed lack of doctors and unavailability of vaccines at local hospitals for the outbreak.

MARDAN: Rescue services 1122 in full capacity have commenced in Mardan after Peshawar. Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti formally launched the program in Town Hall Mardan. Addressing the launching ceremony, the CM said that the people of Khyber Pakhtun khwa were confronting challenges of insurgency and extremism, added, the need for prompt response in such circumstances was direly felt.

Govt taking care of IDPs with donors help: Kausar

South Waziristan IDPs return home in 6th phase

So far, more than 10,000 displaced families have returned to their homes in different phases.

A convoy of at least 300 displaced families left for their homes in South Waziristan Agency (SWA) in the sixth phase of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) repatriation plan on Tuesday.

Brigadier Muhammad Asghar saw off the repatriating families and assured them that Pakistan Army would continue its efforts for their rehabilitation.

Each repatriating family is being provided with six months ration besides free transportation and Rs 25,000 in cash.

Flood affectees await relief

In the Sadiqabad area of Dera Ghazi Khan, several feet of water is accumulated while in Rojhan the situation is the same. The district administration had claimed that 3,000 flood affectees are currently in relief camps while several families have returned home.

In Jaffarabad and Naseerabad, Balochistan water has not been drained even after twelve days. Up to four feet of water is still accumulated in several areas. The Railway station, Civil Hospital and the offices of the Deputy Commissioner, DPO and Judges are still inundated.

Rains in Bahawalpur and DG Khan CM constitutes committee to assess financial & human losses

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab has constituted a 14-member committee headed by Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan for assessing the financial and human losses due to rains in Bahawalpur and DG Khan Divisions and payment of suitable financial assistance and compensation to the affectees which will submit its recommendations within a week to the Chief Minister. After that affected villages will be declared calamity-hit areas for providing financial assistance and rehabilitation of affectees, agri-income tax, water rate and waiving of abiyana.

Flood in Dera Ghazi Khan affects thousands; emergency declared

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Rain once again began to lash the city on Monday morning while floodwater developed breach in Dera Ghazi Khan canal, inundating half of the city.

Meanwhile, floodwater has also started entering Rajinpur and Tonsa Sharif, irking dwellers of the region.

In Dera Ghazi Khan, Public Health Department’s office, Railway Road, Border Military Police Line, Indus Colony among various areas have came under water of flood and rain.
