Thailand: Water level in Chi River still high

BANGKOK, 10 October 2010 (NNT) - The water level in Chi River is still at its peak. Water continues to flow in to the river, causing floods in paddy fields and damaging rice crops that are about to produce grains.

Farmers in Yasothorn province have been using water pumps to get rid of the water, which has been inundating their paddy fields. The flood areas have covered over 1,000 rai of farm land.

In the meantime, Muang district of Ranong province down south have been experiencing rising tides, flooding the area, including six islands of the province.

Besides tides as high as five meters, rain has continued to pour down. The heavy floods have continued to damage properties and infrastructures.
