Needs inside and out of Syria continue to expand with an increasing number of refugees and Internally Displaced People. Outside Syria there are now estimated to be over 2.2 million child refugees, and inside Syria 6 million children in need of humanitarian assistance, including 2.8 million displaced children.
Since the escalation of the conflict in March 2015, UNHRD has supported 6 Partners responding to the crisis by sending 323 MT of critical relief items, equipment and medical supplies to Djibouti and Yemen. Most recently, UNHRD dispatched 4 armored vehicles and medicine to Djibouti on behalf of WHO and IOM.
Over the last two weeks heavy rains and winds affected south-eastern India and Sri Lanka, causing damage and deaths, especially in Tamil Nadu state (India), as well as some areas of Malaysia.
The map represent the percentage of Health Facilities (HFs) which filled the BNA survey compared to all the HFs in the HMIS database of Ministry of Public Health/ Public Nutrition department (MoPH/PND) provided by UNICEF. The data were entered by iMMAP (25 provinces) and SRSO (8 provinces). The infographics represent a preliminary analysis on reporting performances, the total reports submitted has been compared for each provinces with the number of reports who presents incomplete information about the HF location, all data are expressed in percentages by Provinces.
Western Balkans - Refugee crisis
• Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia have applied restrictions to the number of nationalities eligible to enter their territory.
• Figures confirm a sharp decrease in the number of transit (from 7000-8000 to 4000-5000 average daily).
Afghanistan - Earthquake
• 22 November - Earthquake magnitude 5.9 M occurred in Badakhshan province.
Freezing temperatures have arrived in Ukraine and the approaching December-February months represent the core period for extreme weather conditions. Independent forecast centers* predict that Ukraine will experience winter conditions that fall within monthly historic climatological patterns with 20 or more days of freezing temperatures and precipitation limited to 3-4 inches, on average, during this time frame.
