Major Challenges Faced by FSAC Partners in March 2017

  • FSAC activities were only 13.6 % funded by 31st March 2017. Partners are currently utilizing funds carried over from 2016 resulting to huge unmet needs and response gaps across the priority governorates in IPC emergency phase 4. This is a major concern considering the deteriorating and precarious food security, livelihoods and nutrition situation in the country. There is a danger of more vulnerable households further sliding into more severe forms of food insecurity if no additional funding is received soon

  • Partners were not able to access the southern districts of Hudaydah due to the ongoing conflict

  • Cumbersome bureaucratic impediments and complex clearance mechanisms hindering access, movement and/or activities in most governorates

Emergency Livelihoods Assistance in March 2017

  • A total of 336,000 beneficiaries cumulatively drawn from 7 governorates have received emergency livelihoods assistance (agricultural, fisheries and livestock inputs support) by end of March 2017.

  • Beneficiaries in Al Bayda, Al jawf, Amran, Sa’ada and Shabwah governorates are yet to receive any emergency livelihoods assistance.
