Update No. 12: Syria Regional Refugee Response Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Turkey (5 July 2012)

This weekly update provides a snapshot of the United Nations and partners’ response to the influx of Syrian refugees into Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and Turkey. The response is led by the UN Refugee Agency and is undertaken in full coordination with host Governments. This report covers the period from 28 June to 5 July 2012. The next update will be issued on 12 July 2012.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Currently, more than 103,000 Syrians are either registered or being assisted in neighboring countries, more than double the number of last March.

  • During the last week, 3,367 Syrians refugees have crossed the border seeking refuge in Jordan prompting aid agencies to upgrade their level of response.
    Another 2,500 Syrian refugees were received in refugee camps in Turkey.

  • Following the centralization of registration in the Lebanese Akkar and Bekaa areas, some 8,000 Syrian refugees have been registered during the month of June.
