Sudan NFI & ES Sector Monthly Update # 4/5 April/May 2012
Executive Summary
- As of 1st April 2012, WFPLCU (UNJLC) which manages the NFI & ES Sector and the Common Pipeline was officially transferred to UNHCR, henceforth to be known as the ES/NFI Project.
- During the reporting period approximately 250,000 people were supported with non-food items and emergency shelter from the NFI Common Pipeline in Darfur, of which 709 households (1.7%) were disaster affected; 1,750 households (4.2 %) were newly displaced; 917 were returnee households (2,2%) and 38,305 (91.9%) were pre-existing IDP households receiving rainy season replenishment items. In total the NFI common Pipeline provided 141,583 items for distribution, including 83,362 jerry cans, 41,581 plastic sheets, 6,576 sleeping mats, 3,288 cooking sets and 6,776 blankets.
- The ES/NFI Project convenes weekly coordination meetings in Khartoum to discuss coordinated interventions to populations affected by the situation in South Kordofan State and the Rest of Sudan (RoS).
