Sudan: Flash Floods (06 Aug 2013)

The Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) and the Commission for Voluntary and Humanitarian Work (CVHW) report that an estimated 98,500 people have been affected by heavy rain and flash floods in Khartoum, River Nile, Blue Nile, North Darfur, South Darfur, Northern and Red Sea states between 1 and 4 August. According to SRCS and CVHW, the flash floods have killed 11 people and destroyed or damaged more than 14,000 houses in the states affected. Khartoum and River Nile are the worst affected states. Immediate needs of the affected people include emergency shelter, health and water and sanitation services.
