210 communes affected by severe food insecurity. (3.47 million people)
+56 communes experience economic difficulties leading to moderate food insecurity (1.13 million people)
ARMED CONFLICT
Fighting erupted on 17 January 2012 in northern Mali. Urgent assistance and protection needs of the most vulnerable in affected areas.
MOST AFFECTED AREAS
Food/Malnutrition crisis: Sahel belt: Kayes, Koulikoro, Gao, Mopti, Tombouctou. 87% of acute malnutrition caseload located in Southern Mali.
Armed Conflict: Northern Mali: Gao, Kidal, Tombouctou, areas of Mopti (Douentza, Tenenkou, Youwarou, Koro) and Ségou (Niono and Macina).
