Madagascar: The Special Electoral Court announced on 17 January that Hery Rajaonarimampianina is the official winner of the presidential elections, having received 53.49% of the votes, compared to 46.51% received by Jean Louis Robinson.

Tropical Storm Deliwe has dissipated in the Mozambique Channel. In total, heavy rains the past week caused 3 deaths with 1 person missing, and damage to 2 schools. Also, around 1,000 people were displaced in the cities of Majunga and Toliara - all of whom have returned to their homes except for 360 people in Toliara, who are receiving assistance

Mozambique: In Nampula Province, recent rains affected 1,860 people in the districts of Malema, Mogovolas, Murrupula, Erati and Memba. Those affected are receiving assistance.
