In emergencies, young children become more vulnerable as they may be confronted by unsafe and insecure environments; are at high risk of being separated from their parents or primary caregivers and may face displacement; may be physically hurt and/or emotionally and psychologically challenged witnessing atrocities; and may be isolated from basic services such health care, drinkable water and proper food, hygiene and sanitary facilities.
