Chemonics seeks a chief of party dedicated to making a positive impact on the next generation of Egyptian science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professionals and leaders by managing an anticipated five-year USAID funded teacher education and school strengthening project in Egypt. The project aims to expand STEM secondary schools across Egypt through a partnership with the Ministry of Education (MOE) that will scale up and institutionalize the STEM school system. The project will also partner with Egyptian universities to enhance teacher education for pre and in-service STEM teachers. By providing potential STEM teachers with the necessary content knowledge and materials to be successful in the classroom, this project will support the MOE's mission to encourage young critical thinkers and innovators. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Direct implementation of the project's strategic vision
  • Provide overall project leadership, management, and technical direction
  • Supervise technical and administrative staff
  • Serve as the primary liaison with USAID and local and international partners
  • Ensure that all project assistance is technically sound and appropriate
  • Oversee performance management and strategic communications


  • Master's degree in public policy, education, international development, or a relevant field from an accredited university required; Ph.D. degree preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of applicable technical and professional experience in the successful implementation of international development programs, including substantial experience in education reform projects at school and university levels, preferably STEM education programs
  • Experience in pre and in-service teacher education reform
  • Experience supervising staff on complex projects required
  • Experience in policy and system reform preferred
  • Knowledge of the education system in Egypt preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in English (writing and speaking) required; fluency in Arabic preferred
