Disaster description

Typhoon Bolaven hit the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on 28 Aug 2012, worsening the extensive flooding caused by successive torrential rains and tropical storms since July. As of 3 Sep, 59 people had been killed, 5,766 houses had been destroyed or damaged and 2192 houses were submerged. Up to 52,299 hectares of crop land were submerged, buried or washed away aggravating the food situation in the country. (IFRC, 5 Sep 2012)
