Tropical Cyclone Giovanna - Feb 2012
Disaster description
Tropical cyclone Giovanna made landfall on the eastern coast of Madagascar on 14 February as a category 4 tropical cyclone (UNCT, 14 Feb 2012).
Twelve days after the passing of cyclone Giovanna, 28 deaths have been reported, while the number of people injured is estimated at 118. To date, around 3,000 people are still displaced in temporary shelters, in particular in the eastern districts of Brickaville, Vatomandry, in the north-central district of Mampikony, and in the capital city, Antananarivo.
