Tropical Cyclone Halong - May 2008

Disaster description

The enhanced southwest monsoon and occasional rains over northern Luzon, southern Luzon and western Visayas triggered floodings, landslides and storm surge which affected Regions I, III, VI and CAR. (Govt. of Philippines, 21 May 2008) There were 259,618 families or 1,392,102 persons affected across seven cities in five provinces of Regions I, III, VI and CAR. 58 persons were reported dead and 29 injured by 26 May 2008. The estimated number of population served both inside and outside evacuation centers was 58,496 families (300,953 persons). (Govt. of Philippines, 26 May 2008)
