Summary: CHF 106,394 was allocated from the IFRC’s Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF) on 7 March, 2012 to support the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in delivering assistance to a total of 1,888 beneficiaries, and to replenish the used contingency stocks.

Thanks to support by the DREF, PRCS was able to bring tailored and effective immediate relief to 1,888 persons. In addition, the emergency helped identifying gaps in coordination and ways to improve coordination with other actors as well as testing its contingency plans.

Interventions of PRCS during the latest severe weather conditions:

  • Several West Bank and Gaza Strip areas were affected by extreme winter conditions this week. PRCS’ Disaster Management Unit provided necessary humanitarian assistance to affected populations especially in Al Aghwar, Massafer Bani Na’im and Southern Yatta (Hebron Governorate) as well as in refugee camps located in lowlands in the Gaza Strip where Palestinian homes were severely damaged due to floods and heavy rain.
