Brazil: Floods and Landslides - Jan 2012

The state of emergency was declared in 53 municipalities of Minas Gerais, in the south-east of Brazil, after floods and landslides killed at least 7 people (AFP, 4 Jan 2012).

In February, more than 130,000 people were affected by floods in the northern state of Acre (CARE, 2 Mar 2012).

In April, the state of emergency was declared in the state of Amazonas after flooding in Manaus (Government, 30 Apr 2012).
