Panama: Floods - Nov 2010

Disaster description

From early November to mid December 2010, Panama experienced a series of unusually strong rains and floods (IFRC 21 Dec 2011). Eight provinces have been affected and some 29,781 people are affected, particularly in the areas of Bayano and Yaviza (Darién province), where some towns were under water for as long as 25 days. The government of Panama declared a state of national emergency on 9 December to facilitate the relief response.(IFRC 23 March 2011)
