Yemen: Floods - Jul 2010

Disaster description

On 16 July 2010, heavy rains and floods hit northwest Yemen and southwest Saudi Arabia. In Yemen's Wasab Safil district, a dam was burst, and throughout the region tumbling rocks and flash floods claimed 23 lives. The rains also isolated villages in southwest Saudi Arabia, near the Yemeni border, with 1 death toll. (Thomson Reuters Foundation, 16 Jul 2010)
