Uganda: Floods - Sep 2008

Disaster description

In September 2008, heavy rains led to the flooding of three parishes in Eastern Uganda along the stretch of Lake Albert, in Agule Sub County in Pallisa District. About 700 people were affected, including 400 displaced. The floods submerged crops, worsening general food shortages due to poor yields and high prices in the area. (Uganda Red Cross, 18 Sep 2008)

By mid November, heavy rains and floods had displaced thousands and damaged crops in eastern and northern Uganda. (IRIN, 18 Nov 2008)
