Flash floods, lightning kill eight in Yemen

Sana'a (dpa) - Lightning and flash floods caused by torrential rains have killed eight people in Yemen in the past two days, police officials said Friday.

Five people, including two women, were killed by lightning strikes in three incidents in the northern Saada province and the central province of Raima on Wednesday, they said.

On Thursday, flash floods in the southern province of Taiz swept away farming areas, killing three people. Eight people were injured when floods hit a marketplace in the southeastern Mukalla city.

Yemen flash floods kill 12 in two days

SANAA, Aug 21 (Reuters) - Flash floods have killed a dozen people in Yemen and have injured at least six others in the poor Arab state, officials said on Sunday.
"Twelve people have died in the last two days due to heavy rains and there have been six injuries," a police official said, adding that 50 farmland animals had also died in the floods.

The country's meteorological office has warned the heavy rains will continue for the next two days.

Yemen floods kill 10 in two days-officials

SANAA, April 27 (Reuters) - Flash floods have killed at least 10 people in Yemen and destroyed acres of agricultural land in the poor Arab state, officials said on Wednesday.

They said tens of houses were also destroyed by rushing water in the past two days after heavy rains lashed several parts of the country.

"There has been a lot of damage to property due to heavy rain in the last week," one official said, adding that it was too early to provide accurate estimates of material damage.
