Families living in tents get homes in Zango IV

Luanda – One Hundred and nine families who had been living in tents for nearly six years in the Sapu neighbourhood, Bela district, in Luanda, received Saturday their own houses in Zango IV, in Viana district, under the resettlement programme of populations.

The families, mostly coming from Kilamba Kiaxi, had been victim of the rains that ravaged the population living in areas considered at risk in 2005.

Angola/Kwanza-Norte: Saving and Credit Bank grants goods for victimes of floods

Dondo, 17/04 - Five tons of several goods were donated Friday, in Dondo District, Northern Kwanza-Norte Province, by the Saving and Credit Bank (BPC), to the victimes of March 11, 2005, floods, which hit Kambambe locality.
The gift, worth at USD 10,000 will benefit 15,000 families residing in Dondo and others 4,000 at Massangano Commune.

On the occasion, Kambambe Deputy Administrator, Paulino Antonio Pinheiro, thanked the gesture and said the authorities still in need of aid.

Angola: Red Cross donates goods for Kaxicane flood victims

Luanda, 03/23 - The Red Cross of Angola (CVA) donated on Tuesday, at Icolo e Bengo district, Bengo province (north), various medicines, clothes and shoes to around 7.000 people of Kaxicane commune affected by floods.

On the occasion, the chairman of CVA's administration and finances, Mary Thomas, said that her organisation aims at giving, in a near future, more donations, considering that this is the first aid to arrive in the region since the floods began.

Angola: Red Cross carries food to the population of Kaxicane

Luanda, 03/21 - Around 10,000 people of the Kaxicane village, northern Bengo Province, victims of flooding , benefitted last Tuesday of a donation consisting of cloth, shoes and various medicines, offered by the Angolan Red Cross (CVA).

Angola: UNICEF supports Government on aid of flood victims

Luanda, 03/17 - A delegation of Technicians of the UNICEF, of the National Direction of Water (DNA) and Health Ministry (MINSA) will travel on Friday to Dondo town (northern Kwanza-Norte Province), with the objective to create an efficient system of awareness and mobilization of the families in the promotion of health care.

Angola: Deputy Minister of Social Reintegration to hand goods to flood victims

Luanda, 03/15 - The deputy minister of Social Reintegration, Maria da Luz, left Tuesday for Dondo (northern Kwanza Norte Province), to hand some essential goods to the victims of the recent flood caused by the river Kapacala.

Speaking to Angop, moments after leaving Luanda, Maria da Luz said that the government intends, with this help, to decrease the suffering of that population.

The minister is being accompanied by the general director of the Technical Coordination Unit for Humanitarian Aid (UTCAH), Pedro Wallipi.
