1. The UN Resident Coordinator in New Dehli informs that, as per official estimates, 156 people have been killed in the State of Bihar due to monsoon rains during the last two and a half months. The overall position of the loss incurred during the current monsoon season is indicated below. The situation in almost all the states is now back to normal.

1. The UN Resident Coordinator in New Dehli informs that the south-west monsoon in India is still active in many states. During the last week, several parts of the western states of Maharashtra and Gujarat received heavy rainfall. Due to torrential rains in these states, several people from the low-lying areas were evacuated. The situation has improved considerably since 26 August and flood water has started receding.
