DR Congo: Flash Floods - Oct 2008

Disaster description

Flash floods caused by torrential rains affected several regions of the country in October 2008. Caritas reported floods in areas such as Kwamouth where more than 700 people were left homeless after their homes were destroyed or submerged by the flood waters. OCHA reported over 650 houses destroyed in Kindu, Maniema Province. Other areas affected included Bumba in Equateur Province, and Bapoto, Lokole, Lokele and Moluwa regions which were flooded after the Congo river burst its banks.
