Dr. Faghih Open up Relief and Rescue Logistic Center in Southwest of the Country

Coinciding with the last day of the Red Crescent week, the Relief and Rescue Logistic Center was kicked off in south west of the country by attendance of the President of the Red Crescent Society, Dr. Faghih in Ahvaz, Kohouzestan province on 14 May 2011.

“Last year nearly 10, 420 earthquakes shook the country, out of which the number of 137 happened with the magnitude of more than 4 on the Richter scale” Dr. Faghih said.

Full Response of Iranian Red Crescent Society for Emergency Sheltering in Damghan

"Thanks to the endeavors of IRCS Damghan relief workers, all the earthquake stricken people were provided with emergency sheltering in Damghan city." President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, Dr. Abolhassan Faghih said.

Dr. Faghih stated that relief workers have been set up relief tents and established temporary sheltering in 10 villages of Damghan city and they have reached to all the affected. President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society Visited the Earthquake Stricken Areas

President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), Dr. Abolhassan Faghih visited the earthquake stricken areas of Damghan city on 28 August 2010.

In the course of his visit to three villages of Koohzar, Satveh and Taraoud, Dr. Faghih emphasized on rendering quicker relief services to affected people.

Iran: Earthquake Rocked Semnan Province

On 27 Aug. 2010, an earthquake with the magnitude of 5.9 on the Richter scale jolted villages of Koohdar, Toocha, Chini, Clu and Chaie in south of Damghan city, Semnan province.

In response to the earthquake, IRCS relief workers of Semnan province swiftly dispatched to the affected areas to respond the disaster. In rendering relief services, rescue workers immediately transferred the injured to the closest hospital in Damghan city to be treated.

At the same time, following termination of relief & rescue operation, relief workers initiated emergency sheltering

Iran hit by second moderate quake in 2 days

Tehran, Iran (CNN) -- A magnitude 5.3 earthquake hit southern Iran on Saturday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey said, a day after another moderate quake in the country's northeast left 170 people injured.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from Saturday's earthquake that struck about 60 miles (95 kilometers) south of Kerman, the USGS said.

Iran quake injures 274; new tremor further south

TEHRAN, July 31 (Reuters) - An earthquake in northeastern Iran injured 274 people on Friday, the semi-official ILNA news agency reported, and a slightly stronger tremor struck central Iran on Saturday.

The first quake with a magnitude of 5.7 hit the city of Torbat-e Heydariyeh, about 700 km (435 miles) east of Tehran, at 6:20 p.m. (1350 GMT) on Friday, and had its epicentre around 7 km from the city.

Many people spent the night outdoors in the city's parks fearing aftershocks. No deaths were reported.
