Chad: Cholera/Measles/Meningitis Outbreak - Mar 2011

Disaster description

The first quarter of 2011 has been marked by the prevalence of epidemics: cholera, measles and meningitis. A total of 2,776 persons have been affected by meningitis with 144 deaths, 2,683 by measles with 14 deaths and around 290 cases of cholera with 14 deaths (OCHA, 13 Apr 2011).

Between 9 and 17 Aug 2011, 152 cases of cholera were admitted at the regional hospital of Mongo, an area located 510 km east of N'Djamena that experienced heavy rains (IFRC, 22 Aug 2011).
