Chad: Cholera Outbreak - Aug 2010

Disaster description

In early September 2010, Chad experienced torrential rains causing flooding in ten regions including four districts located in the capital N'Djamena. The situation intensified on 17 Dec when the flood caused severe damage leaving 22,266 families homeless and destroying approximately 7,830 hectares of farmland. The situation was aggravated by a cholera outbreak that affected an estimated number of 1,730 people, with 92 deaths countrywide. (IFRC, 20 Dec 2010)
