  1. Since December, increased locust numbers and breeding have been reported in western Mauritania, Western Sahara, and northeastern Sudan according to the Food and Agriculture Organization.

  2. Below-average and erratic rainfall over the past several weeks has sustained moisture deficits and resulted in degraded ground conditions across many parts of Uganda, Kenya, bimodal and unimodal areas of Tanzania, northern Malawi, and northern Mozambique.

Grâce aux des opérations de lutte en cours, les infestations du Criquet pèlerin ont diminué en décembre dans les zones affectées par les récentes résurgences en Mauritanie, s’étendant au sud du Maroc, et en Érythrée. Néanmoins, une stricte vigilance devrait être maintenue car les conditions écologiques continuent à être favorables et une autre reproduction va probablement avoir lieu en janvier et en février.

Desert Locust infestations declined during December in the areas affected by the recent outbreaks in **Mauritania**, which extended to southern **Morocco**, and in **Eritrea** due to ongoing control operations. Nevertheless, strict vigilance should be maintained as ecological conditions continue to remain favourable and another generation of breeding is likely to take place during January and February.
