DOHA, 9 décembre 2012 (IRIN) - Au cours de ces 30 dernières années, les catastrophes naturelles, y compris les évènements climatiques extrêmes, ont affecté 50 millions de personnes dans le monde arabe, selon un nouveau rapport de la Banque mondiale. Le rapport spécule sur un scénario terrifiant de hausse régulière des températures de plus de 50 degrés Celsius d’ici à la fin du siècle, ce qui pourrait engendrer une cascade de catastrophes, selon les experts.

Highlights

  • Funding shortfalls are undermining the ongoing humanitarian response in Pakistan, with aid agencies cutting critical life-saving assistance.

  • Needs in Syria increased to an estimated 2.5 million people and the number of refugees has doubled since July. Whilst humanitarian agencies have scaled up, these efforts are being undermined by funding shortfalls.

  • The government of Iran led the humanitarian response to two earthquakes that left 300 dead, 2600 njured and over 150,000 affected.

HH the Amir donates USD 3.5 mls for Thai flood victims

KUWAIT, Nov 2 (KUNA) -- Thailand's Charge d'Affairs in Kuwait expressed appreciation for His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah's donation of USD 3.5 million for the benefit of the Thai flood victims.

After a meeting with head of Kuwait Red Crescent Society Barjas Al-Barjas, the Thai official thanked the Kuwaiti government and people for this humanitarian support.

The death toll from Thailand's worst floods in decades surged above 400 on Wednesday.

KUWAIT CITY/DUBAI, 19 October 2011 (IRIN) - Among the aid agencies that poured into Somalia after famine was declared in July were organizations such as the Arab Federation of Doctors, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment of the United Arab Emirates, and the Deniz Feneri Association of Turkey.

They came with their own style.
