As of 19 February, over 30,700 people remain displaced in northeastern Mindanao (Caraga region) by flooding triggered by a series of weather systems since 8 January. At least 2,100 people are in 18 shelters, while most are staying with relatives and friends. Local authorities and NGOs, with support from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) are providing food and other relief items.
A massive fire swept through the crowded shanty Parola compound in Tondo area, near the port of Manila in the evening of February 7, destroying more than 1,000 makeshift houses and leaving 3,000 families (15,000 people) homeless. Seven people were reported injured.

• Severe bush fires started on 23 November in the two provinces of Haifa and Jerusalem resulting in the evacuation of 60 000 people.
• In immediate reaction to the fires, several Participating States have provided assistance via the Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
• 10 amphibious firefighting aircrafts, 2 command and logistical planes and 70 people were deployed through UCPM
• 179 flight hours and 216 water drops were operated.
• The last deployment ended on 30 November.

The Government of Vanuatu and the Australian Capital Territory Emergency Service Agency (ACTESA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding today to support the mutual exchange of technical assistance in emergency management and strengthen the long-term resilience of the Pacific Island country.

Earl touched ground as a Category 1 hurricane on Thursday, 04 August.
Authorities distributed packages with food and water to the people affected, and also opened emergency shelters. Some 2,500 people were located in 94 emergency shelters, 164 are still sheltered. Earl affected 1,046 people in the departments of Quiché and Petén. 162 houses were reported with damages, and classes were suspended in the affected departments.

The 18th City Council adopted on August 1 Ordinance No. 13097-2016, declaring a portion of Barangay 17 in Cagayan de Oro City as a calamity area.
Legislators also authorized the City Budget Officer and City Accountant to charge the amount of P1,403,100 to the 5% Calamity Fund-Quick Response Fund CY 2016 as financial assistance to the victims based on the list of calamity victims submitted by the City Social Welfare and Development Office.
