• 19 desastres naturales afectaron a cerca de 552,000 personas en la región, durante el primer trimestre de 2013. Las inundaciones afectaron al 71 por ciento del total.

• Brasil es el principal donante de la región, aportando $106 millones para la respuesta humanitaria, desde el 2000.

• Un fuerte compromiso por parte de los socios humanitarios es necesario sobre el tema de la violencia. 41 de las 50 ciudades más peligrosas del mundo están en América Latina y el Caribe.

Astana: The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) has carried out a winter relief campaign for those affected by a cold wave and heavy snow that hit a number of cities in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"RCA aid workers have provided relief assistance to a number of families affected by the cold wave in Kazakhstan, Naima Al Muhairi, Acting Deputy Secretary General for Relief and Projects at the RCA, said.

Al Muhairi added the RAC would coordinate with Kazakh official authorities to ensure delivery of assistant to a large number of affected families.
