UNICEF Acción Humanitaria para la Infancia 2013

Prefacio del Director Ejecutivo

Acción Humanitaria para la Infancia 2013

A primera vista, Fatima aparentaba tener unos 4 o 5 meses.

Since the launch of the 2012 Consolidated Appeal (CAP) at the end of last year, Zimbabwe has continued to make steady progress towards recovery and development, with the general humanitarian situation remaining stable. However, humanitarian challenges remain, including drought-induced food insecurity mainly in the south of the country and outbreaks of typhoid and other water-borne diseases such as cholera which is predominantly in urban areas.

FOREWORD

Every year, the plight and needs of many of the world’s most vulnerable people are described in the Consolidated Appeals Process (CAP). This year’s CAP spans 18 countries and outlines needs across key sectors.

The 2012 CAP clearly highlights that food insecurity continues to be compounded by protracted crisis situations, more frequent natural disasters, conflict, volatile food prices, harsh economic conditions and climate change.

Consolidated Appeals Process (CAP): Humanitarian Appeal 2011

Introduction

In 2011, tens of millions of people will need emergency aid to survive. Conflicts and natural disasters have cut them off from their homes, their livelihoods, and access to essentials like drinking water and health care. They already suffer or are imminently threatened by malnourishment, disease, or violence. Most are poor people who have few if any means to cope with these traumas. This Appeal asks for the resources needed to deliver to these people the best possible help, in time.
